Hi! We are really struggling. I’m convinced that my son has ADHD. Everything Ive read indicates it. He is all over the place very aggressive, keeps fighting with his sister and kicking us. He never ever sleeps. Doesnt have any friends as keeps fighting with everyone. We spoke to SENCO but it was useless - they don;t think he has a problem. I know he does. Who can I talk to? We just can't go on like this.

unfortunately, it's not always as easy goldilocks. I really don't think schools want these kids until they have to accept them. Are you aware that schools have to spend 6K of their own money before they get any government funding through EHCP?
Thanks goldilocks. It's a small school so only one SENCO. Unfortunately. His teacher agrees that something is not right and he is not just a "naughty child". Perhaps I should go back and have a chat with her as you say and see if she can convince them to have another look. Just so stressful to have to fight for people to listen,
Hi there. Don't get desperate :-) Does your school have only one SENCO? Or a team? Can you speak to anyone else? What does his teacher says? I would imagine you raised it with him / her first and they share your concerns? I would definitely go back to his teacher and ask him / her to put pressure on SENCO - much easier this way. If this fails too, perhaps throw money at the problem if you can and get an independent report from an educational psychologist? If he diagnoses ADHD, the school will find it much harder to push back and should acknowledge it. There is a formal complaints route too but, as much as possible, I would strongly advise to maintain a good relationship with the school and not to burn bridges. How old is your son? I expect you want him to remain in this school, just get extra support?
